Mercedes-Benz 722 series – automatic transmission electronic diagnosis. Transmissions are fully automatic 4 or 5-speed, consisting of a 3-element welded torque converter, 2 or 3 compound planetary gear set, 2 or 3 multiple disc clutches, overrunning clutch and 3 brake bands. See the overload test 1 and 2. Brake bands control function of planetary gear sets. A hydraulic system, Pressurized by a primary gear type pump and a secondary piston type pump provides operating pressure required friction elements, and automatic control to operate. Check and adjust thereby Pres. Governor damaged or working pressure wrong. Valve body worn or damaged. Replace valve body (if necessary). Check Teflon rings support linking K-2. Replace the inner plates of clutch K-2 or recondition clutch (if necessary). This electronic diagnostic document applies to Mercedes Benz C220, C280 series:, C36 E300D, E320, E420, S320, S350D, S500, S600, SL320, SL500, SL600.
